52 Weeks, Week #52 Pat Yourself on the Back

Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful):  0

Why: You’ve earned it

Change isn’t easy.  If it was, everyone would be busy making their life as perfect as they possibly could.

In my near 15 years of seeking better health through food and lifestyle changes there is one particular behavior that stands out in all of us – me included.

We are much to hard on ourselves.

When you change what you put in your mouth your whole life changes.

All of it.

For many folks, that’s what becomes the difficult part.  It’s not so much the food adjustments, but all of the other unexpected changes that come along with it.

We decide to get on a healthier path and then life happens.  We get stressed.  We seek an immediate state change and know that we can accomplish that by shoving something tasty into our mouth.  “What will change my mood but quick?”  Always FOOD.  Tasty, tasty food.

You run to the store and buy a pint of Ben & Jerry’s, grab a spoon and engage in a three way on the sofa with the two guys from Vermont.

Then, instead of picking yourself up the next day, brushing yourself off and moving forward, the negative self talk kicks in.

“Grrrrr….another diet, down the drain.”

“You’re so weak. You can never stick to anything.”

“This is why you are still fat.”

“You’ve failed again!”

“I told you you can’t do this.”

Temporary.

Your derailment is temporary.

Frequently you choose to make it permanent so you don’t have to continue to face the difficult challenges.

Yup.

You do.

I do.

We do.

Those who succeed in all areas of their life, pick themselves up, brush themselves off and get back on the damn horse.

When you achieve success with dietary changes and you are around others who haven’t had the same success, it bothers them.

Whenever you are living as others desire, it has the potential of exaggerating their own distance from what they want.

Oddly enough what has a tendency to hold us back is our own sensitivity to their issue(s).

Many of us will deliberately lower our own standards/vibration in order to resonate with their dysfunction.

Stop that, please..  Just stop.

They are on their journey and you are on yours.

You are NOT responsible for their well being – they are.

Focus on your successes.

You’ve earned them.

Don’t let anyone take them from you.

You can engage any positive change you choose to implement, you just need to decide and stay the course.

Don’t let OPS (other people’s shit) derail you.

I’m super proud of your efforts this last year.  I hope you find the fortitude to continue on your journey.

If you missed a few weeks or need some re-inforcement, grab a friend and get back to week one and do it again..

Great job, YOU.

52 Weeks, Week #51 – Let Go & Enjoy

This week’s change: Let go & enjoy

Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful):  5

Why:  Stress.  Anxiety.

This is one of the most challenging times of they year for a LOT of folks.  Remembering that we all have a big of shit (we just have different shit in our bag) can go a long way towards keeping your mind straight these next few weeks.

It’s not just the December holidays but the pressure we all feel as we shift from one year to the next.

All the things we said we were going to do this year and didn’t seem to get to come flooding back to us bringing with it resentment and frustration for another year of missed opportunities.

LET IT GO.

You don’t have to change it, feel guilty about it or fix any of it.

Decide to just let that shit go.

You’ve likely heard the quote, “Let go or be dragged.”

Keep thinking that over and over and over again….I’ve got to let go or be dragged…

And if you need a musical cue, there’s a song called Let Go that’s in heavy rotation right now on some car commercial.  Sing it if you must.  Dance, too.

Set it all free.

I wish you could believe in you as much as I do.

You’ve got this.

Promise.

Potential Positive Outcomes:   Joy!

52 Weeks, Week #50 – Uplift Yourself Daily

This week’s change: Uplift Yourself Daily – Listen every morning

Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful): 0

Why:

Because too many of us are stuffing our brains with negativity.  It is super easy, especially this time of year, to get on the misery band wagon.  Cold weather, family pressure, holiday BS – December is not always the big fat joy party that’s projected to us via media the world’s media outlets.

Every day before I get out of bed, I listen to an inspirational recording/video.  Every day!  I schedule in time (15 minutes) and when my alarm goes off I get up, go to the bathroom, retrieve my phone and crawl back into bed and listen.

We all get exactly what’s in the front of our brain. Train your brain to start the day off with a bang.

I’m including links to some great pieces I’ve found on Youtube.  Maybe you should consider subscribing to a channel like Goldcoast (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc4IYtPKkJLSAHHuJx1GiGQ).  They have a bunch of 5-6 minute videos that can help launch your day in an improved direction.  Or, you can also just go to the Youtube search bar and type in words like inspiration or motivation.

We are like computers.  Garbage in garbage out.  Feed your mind and soul.  Put in some good so you can harvest some gold.

Potential Positive Outcomes:  Better energy, hope, encouragement, peace of mind, reduced stress.

52 Weeks, Week #49 – Get Unscented

This week’s change: Get Unscented

Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful): 4

Why: Chemical Shit Storm. Hormone Disruptors. Cancer

Links: This movie will tell you everything you need to know about “scents”.

https://stinkmovie.com/

If you have Netflix, it was just recently added.  https://www.netflix.com/title/80076581

What do we substitute in place of it, if anything?  Essential oil diffusers (natural, not synthetic).  I’m sure someone you know is selling essential oils.  You shouldn’t have to dig hard to find a friend that you can support.

Potential Positive Outcomes:  Reduced incidence of cancer. Reduced incidence of sinus issues.  Overall better health.

52 Weeks, Week #48 Watch Health Documentaries

This week’s change: Watch Health Documentaries

Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful): 1

Why:  Science is changing rapidly, but sadly traditional medicine is dragging it’s heals when it comes to keeping up with what the world of science is actually doing.

Thank goodness for documentary filmmakers.

Links:

This is a blog post I did back in 2017 with some CLASSIC films that are still very relevant.

https://jodibrownceo.com/top-10-food-documentaries/

These are some newer ones I’ve watched on Netflix and can tell you from my own research that they contain solid and reliable content.  Remember, ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL.

The Magic Pill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61GitUC_678

Take Your Pills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Xebo1pngM

Sick to Death https://vimeo.com/ondemand/sicktodeath/218997326 Maggie’s Hadleigh-West’s thyroid documentary is a game changer.

What do we substitute in place of it, if anything?  Knowledge is power.  Get yourself up to date on what you need to know for your own health.

Potential Positive Outcomes:  Education and research changed my health outcome dramatically.  When the medical community failed to help me ad I went seeking answer, I found them.  Sheeple get exactly what they are given.  Decide that you deserve better than the low level care others are being provided.
