This week’s change: Upgrade your toothpaste
Level of Discomfort (10 being the most painful): 2
Why: Chemical shit storm. Fluoride.
It took me a long time to figure out that I had a sensitivity to triclosan, a common ingredient in many personal care products, especially toothpaste. My poor thyroid has surely taken a beating front the relentless onslaught of unnecessary fluoride. Gah.
Some of us have sensitive gums and while that can occur for a bunch of different reasons (poor oral hygiene being one), a common reasons for sensitive gums is inflammation. Your mouth is part of your GI track. If your gastro intestinal track is inflamed it could be the reason your gums are inflamed.
This covers all the reasons why you should read your tooth past labels to be sure these ingredients are not in the one you are using at your home.
I have an Amazon Influencer Page that has several lists of items that I use to maintain my health. They are all affiliate links and I may receive some compensation for your purchases. This is the link to my personal care list where you’ll find a few toothpaste options.
Potential Positive Outcomes: Better overall health from removal of crappy chemicals and hormone disruptors that have a negative effect on our health.
